Does Alex Pereira Use Black Magic to Win UFC Fights?

Alex Pereira will step into the octagon on March 8, 2025, at UFC 313 in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion is scheduled to defend his title against Magomed Ankalaev in what promises an electrifying showdown.

This fight marks Pereira’s fourth title defense since winning the belt, and he enters the matchup after an impressive victory over Khalil Rountree Jr. Meanwhile, Ankalaev, known for his well-rounded skills and an outstanding 13-fight unbeaten streak, poses a serious threat to Pereira’s reign.

However, some reports suggest that Pereira relies on black magic to secure victories. But is there any truth to these claims?

Does Alex Pereira use black magic to win fights, the answer is No. Last year, Jiří Procházka accused Poatan of using “magic” and “spiritual practices” to gain an advantage, stating that he noticed it before the Brazilian’s UFC 300 fight against Jamahal Hill.

During the UFC 303 media day, the Czech fighter even admitted that he planned to ask Pereira not to use “magic” ahead of their fight to ensure a fair contest.

In response, Pereira dismissed the accusations, stating that everyone has the opportunity to find their own spiritual connection.

“Well, everybody has their own spirits. We’re not only made of flesh and bone I’ve found mine. If he has not found his or does not believe, it’s not my fault,” Pereira said.

The 36-year-old proudly represents Brazil’s Pataxó tribe and frequently wears native tribal face paint and a headdress during ceremonial weigh-ins.

Although some have claimed that Pereira uses black magic to win fights, no concrete evidence supports this. These allegations originated from Procházka’s comments, implying that Pereira relies on rituals, shamans, and spiritual beliefs for success inside the Octagon. However, Pereira has consistently stated that his spirituality is a personal aspect of his mindset rather than a supernatural advantage.

As UFC 313 approaches, Pereira will defend his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Magomed Ankalaev in one of the year’s most highly anticipated fights.

Holding a 12-2 record, Pereira showcases elite striking, knockout power, and championship experience, having secured TKO wins over Khalil Rountree Jr., Jiří Procházka, and Jamahal Hill in 2024. However, at 37, his age and potential struggles against high-level grapplers could present challenges.

Meanwhile, Magomed Ankalaev (20-1-1) steps into the fight with outstanding wrestling and grappling skills, carrying a 13-fight unbeaten streak, including a dominant unanimous decision victory over Aleksandar Rakić in October 2024. While Ankalaev’s wrestling is a major strength, he lacks Pereira’s striking expertise and has fewer championship fights to his name.

This matchup promises a clash of styles, with Pereira looking to keep the fight standing and capitalize on his striking, while Ankalaev will likely rely on his wrestling to neutralize Pereira’s power.

Despite the speculation surrounding Pereira’s spiritual beliefs, At UFC 313 there will be only one light heavyweight king inside the Octagon not by magic, but through skill, preparation, and execution.
