John Cena to face WWE legend in his retirement match at 2025 Crown Jewel Perth? It’s not Cody Rhodes

John Cena stunned the world by winning the record-breaking 17th WWE title. He defeated Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania Sunday last month. This victory ended Cody Rhodes’ heroic championship reign of over 350 days.

WWE recently announced that the 2025 Crown Jewel will be broadcast live from Perth, Australia, on Saturday, October 11th. Rhea Ripley spoke to the media. She revealed that Crown Jewel 2025 would also mark John Cena’s final match in the Stamford-based promotion.

Many believe Cody Rhodes would be Cena’s last opponent. They think he would reclaim his title. However, the entire plot feels mostly predictable. This will eventually force the creative team to devise a more engaging ending for John Cena’s final bout.

A WWE legend will finally return to the company in 2023. The star in question is Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate and The Leader of Cenation had a significant impact on one another’s careers.

The icons of the Ruthless Aggression Era clash in an “End of an Era 2” double retirement bout. This creates a perfect conclusion to another era. It is much like WrestleMania 28 saw the end of the “Attitude Era” with Undertaker vs Triple H.

Lesnar will defeat Cena and later drop the title to Cody Rhodes or Seth Rollins. That said, the proposed angle remains speculative.

WWE legend calls the character of John Cena perfect

While speaking on his Grilling JR Podcast, the legendary voice of WWE, Jim Ross, praised John Cena, and according to him, his current persona has been perfect:

“He’s a smart guy. However way he decides to end it, him being a heel is cool. I don’t have any problem with that. I think he’s just perfect for that role. It keeps you on your toes, and he’ll stay on his toes representing the business as he is. I’m a big believer in John Cena, the John Cena brand he’s worked very diligently to build,” said Jim Ross.

It will be interesting to see if John Cena retains his WWE Undisputed Championship against Randy Orton at the 2025 Backlash premium live event before he hangs up his boots at Crown Jewel.
