Alex Pereira has definitely had a tough year after ruling the combat sports world last year. This month saw the end of Pereira’s iconic Light Heavyweight Championship reign at UFC 313.
The Poaton lost his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Magomed Ankalaev this month.
Fans felt that the bout between Pereira and Ankalaev was evenly matched. The judges favored the bout in favor of Magomed Ankalaev.
However, a shocking allegation has hit Alex Pereira, exposing a significant flaw by UFC.
Magomed Ankalaev’s coach Sukhrab Magomedov, has accused Pereira of some sort of special grease against Ankalaev.
Sukhrab Magomedov accused that, he felt Alex Pereira had some special ointment on his body which froze his sweat.
It was making it difficult for Magomed to take him down. Magomedov expressed that Glover Teixeira, Alex’s coach is experienced in stuff like these.

Major allegation on Alex Pereira by opponent’s coach
“When Magomed pushed him to the fence near our corner, it seemed to me that Pereira was greased with something”
“Ankalaev said afterwards that he smelled like he had some ointment on and was sticky” “The sweat didn’t flow off his body, it gelled up. That’s what it looks like, on his body too.”
The interviewer expressed, “That has been said about the Brazilians a lot, Glover Teixeira is really experienced in stuff like this” the coach said.
With Sukhrab Magomedov’s interview, it appears the rivalry between Team Alex and Team Magomed has just begun.
Some reports suggest that UFC is already in talks for the rematch and fans could get the rematch by the end of this year. Most probably, UFC could book between them at Saudi Arabia pay-per-view.
It will be interesting to see how Alex Pereira and his team including former UFC champion Glover Teixeira respond to the allegations made by Magomed’s coach.
